How has Rally-Cross risen to the heights it has?
Why has
Rally-Cross become so Popular?
Do you love the low grip extraordinary car control of
Rallying and also the thrilling edge of your seat tension of circuit racing
then Rally-cross is for you. And you are not alone because over the past few years World
Rally-cross has quickly and quietly risen to prominence in the Motorsport world.
This meteoric rise is down to a few key things, such as the drivers and entering
markets which love racing but don’t have it in the mainstream.
One of the most obvious reasons for its popularity is the
caliber of drivers it’s managed to bring into the series. The most stand out names being the 2-time and inaugural WRX champion Petter Solberg, along with the
2003 WRC champion there is also 9-time WRC champion, and the most successful Rally driver
of all time, Frenchman Sébastien Loeb. Having these drivers will obviously
create buzz and make people tune in, but they have also done an incredible job
of creating their own stars such as Johan Kristoffersson the reigning 2-time
champion. Also, drivers like Kevin and his younger brother Timmy Hansen who won
the first ever Nitro world Games Rally-cross title.
Another big selling point is the fact that Rally-cross has successfully
managed to tap into markets in countries that don’t have the most well-known Motorsport
scene and has managed to become as popular if not more popular than other sports shown in these area's,
Countries like Latvia and South Africa have become massive supporters of World
Rally-cross which has boosted global appeal for Motorsport. It has done this whilst also managing to become big in countries
you think of being Motorsport countries such as Germany and Great Britain. In
the UK it has become a big annual event at Silverstone with lots of car clubs
and supporters from all over coming to see the event as a part of the Speedmachine festival.

Rally-cross is not a new concept after all not long ago you were watching it on World Of Sport and you'd see a grid full of stripped out Mini Clubman’s at Lydden Hill, but with modern technology and money involved, it has become very high tech. Rally-Cross is much suited to the modern audiences as it is lots of short races jam packed with excitement from start to finish that normally only last a handful of minutes each so for people who enjoy Motorsport but have short attention spans, Rally-cross is perfect for you. If you combine all these things you have a recipe for a world dominating Motorsport. How can you not help but love it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
